A sprawling 104-acre estate in Missouri, originally built by MLB legend and World Series MVP Cole Hamels, has been listed on the market for $14.5 million. However, the estate’s massive residence has an unexpected twist—it remains unfinished.

Reported by Mansion Global, construction on the grand mansion in West Branson began in 2016 while Hamels was playing for the Texas Rangers. Subsequently, Hamels and his wife placed the property for sale in 2017 but ultimately transferred ownership before its completion to Camp Barnabas, a Christian summer camp catering to children with disabilities. In February 2021, the property was acquired by its current owners, Samuel and Simona Bodea, proprietors of SS Express, an Arizona-based trucking company.

“The current owners purchased the property from Camp Barnabas and have undertaken significant renovation work over the past three years,” said listing agent Jim Strong of Berkshire Hathaway’s ReeceNichols to Mansion Global. Spanning an impressive 36,000 square feet, the grand estate comprises a main house and a separate guest residence. Since the Bodeas took ownership, they have converted the 14-bedroom, 15-bathroom main house into a luxurious event venue suitable for weddings or corporate events. Presently, the couple resides in a five-bedroom, six-bathroom annex.

The Bodeas have made several upgrades to the property over the years, including the addition of underground plumbing, installation of new electrical systems, and the creation of a winding, tiered infinity pool. The kitchen alone on the main floor measures a spacious 2,000 square feet.

“Everything in the house is automated, even the water,” Samuel informed the listing site. “There are no taps or valves here; you simply communicate with the house and say, ‘Kohler, start a shower at 70 or 100 degrees Fahrenheit,’ then step in.” Alongside these features, there are other customized details such as exposed beams, barrel ceilings, and wood-trimmed casement windows and doors.

According to Samuel, the estate is nearly complete, but the new owners have the opportunity to continue where he and his wife left off. “Someone could certainly still customize it to be their dream home if they desire,” Samuel remarked. “No dream is too big or too small for this property.”
